Bernard ’27 Secures Registered Behavior Technician Position with PITT, LLC After Connecting at Fall Career Fest

Kerline Bernard ’27 is already charting a path toward her future in child psychiatry after accepting a position as a Registered Behavior Technician with PITT, LLC. In this role, the Psychology major on the pre-med track will provide one-on-one therapy with children in various home, school, or community environments under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or Licensed Behavior Specialist.
“[This opportunity] means a lot to me since it offers other job avenues, a great resume builder, along with much needed conections,” Bernard said. “It brings me closer to working with children and puts me in the realm of my major, as I want to become a child psychiatrist. I was also told they have a child psychiatrist on staff that I could get in contact with to further my career goals by networking with them.”
Bernard was offered this position after speaking with representatives from PITT, LLC at the Office of Career Education’s Career Fest in the fall. She met with four other organizations as well and offered the following advice to fellow students:
“Just go to these events even if you feel like you won’t find anything. If you are encouraged to talk to five employers, try to talk to more.”
The North Philadelphian stays busy on campus as a Student Experience Leader, a member of the women’s tennis team, an Honors Program Mentor, and a part of the Black Awareness Society and the Art Club. Bernard chose Arcadia for its “beautiful green campus and homey feel,” and is currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy.
