Civic and Global Engagement Celebrates International Students with Culture Fair During International Education Week

The Division of Civic and Global Engagement brought the Arcadia community together to celebrate International Education Week, Nov. 18-Nov. 22.
International Education Week, a joint initiative of the United States State Department and the Department of Education, provides an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and how it prepares students for success in the world.
The week began with the third annual Culture Fair, featuring international and local students, clubs, and societies eager to share their countries’ food, language, and traditions via a lively “night market”-style setup. This year’s participants included students representing Arcadia Culture, Armenia, the Black Awareness Society, Cambodia, the Caribbean Student Association, China, Kyrgyzstan, the Latine Society, Muslimah Ummah, Northern Ireland, Poland, South Korea, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Sue Anne Hong ’27, a Mathematics major from Jiangsu, China, showcased Tanghulu strings, a popular Chinese street snack that is crunchy on the outside and sweet and fruity on the inside. She explained, “Tanghulu strings together stories and languages around the world!”
Chayhok Chhor ‘27, who has participated in all three of Arcadia’s Culture Fairs said: “I was so happy to meet so many students and introduce them to my culture, especially through food and meaningful conversations. It felt great to share a piece of home with the Arcadia community”.
The event reflects Arcadia’s ongoing commitment to diversity and global engagement, building on the university’s strong foundation in international education and national reputation for study abroad participation.
