Dr. Favian Martín, associate professor of Criminal Justice and associate director of CASAA at Arcadia University, was awarded the 2023 Division on Critical Criminology & Social Justice Praxis Award by the Division on Critical Criminology & Social Justice (DCCSJ).

This award recognizes an individual whose professional accomplishments have improved the quality of justice for those who have experienced class, ethnic, gender, racial and sexual disparities in policing and punishment. It honors the recipients achievements across their work in activism, commitment, persuasion, scholarship, service, and teaching in areas that have made a significant impact on underserved, underrepresented, and otherwise marginalized populations’ quality of justice.

The DCCSJ, which operates as a part of the American Society of Criminology (ACS), works to promote research, theory development, and collaboration within the criminology field. Their annual conference will be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown from November 15 to 18 and will include an executive meeting, the awards ceremony, and a social reception.
