An alumna of Arcadia’s Master of Science in Forensic Science program, Brayleigh Keefe ’24M, and Program Director and Associate Professor of Forensic Science Dr. Fabio Oldoni co-authored “Comprehensive investigation of the Applied BiosystemsTM SeqStudioTM Genetic Analyzer platform for forensic DNA typing,” which was published in the International Journal of Legal Medicine.

Dr. Oldoni remarked that this research is significant for the developmental validation of the novel SeqStudioTM Genetic Analyzer, utilized for the separation and detection of DNA fragments in human forensic identification. This latest capillary electrophoresis platform is characterized by an all-in-one reagent cartridge with a four-capillary array system. To validate this platform, extensive studies were conducted in accordance with existing forensic DNA standards, such as injection time, sensitivity, reproducibility, and performance in mixed DNA samples. This in-depth assessment supports the application of SeqStudioTM for forensic DNA identification.
