Hometown: Warrington, Pa.

Program: Teacher/Supervisory Certification in PreK–4 Certification Program

Previous Degree: BFA in Graphic Design, Arcadia University

Why did you choose your particular program at Arcadia?

I chose Arcadia University for the Teacher/Supervisory Certification in PreK–4 Certification program because of the alumni discount, location, and how the staff has made the process very easy to apply for and get accepted to. Arcadia University was one of two schools that offered a teacher certification program without a master’s degree. This was exactly the program I was looking for.

What do you hope to accomplish during your time here?

I hope to earn my Teacher Certification in PreK–4 Education and ultimately to become a K–4 teacher in an elementary school classroom.

What do you do when you’re not in class?

I am a full-time building substitute teacher, and I really love working with kids. Outside of work, I love to garden, cook, read, and most of all, hike. When life is an uphill struggle, I keep thinking of the view at the top.

As a retired scout leader of 19 years, I am still involved in Girl Scouting as a recruiter/registrar for our local Girl Scout Service Unit, helping to get new troops started and mentor new leaders.

Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

Changing careers after so many years in my previous senior graphic design position is scary. The staff at Arcadia University has made the process as seamless as possible and has been so informative and helpful as I move into this new career path. I am looking forward to becoming a full-time teacher.
