Program: MFA in Creative Writing – Poetry
Previous Degree: BS in Biomedical Engineering
Why did you choose your particular program at Arcadia?
I chose the MFA in Creative Writing- Poetry because I wanted the opportunity to learn from knowledgeable teachers in the craft and dedicate intentional time to growing as a writer. I chose Arcadia’s program because I was very interested in the low-residency structure with the flexibility it would offer me, and the residencies that are both local & abroad.
What do you hope to accomplish during your time here?
After just a few weeks into the program, I gained meaningful connections with my awesome classmates and incredibly passionate professors. I hope to become a writer who knows about different craft elements while determining my signature style. I also hope to compile some poems into a cohesive collection to publish.
What do you do when you’re not in class?
During the day, I work as a medical scribe. In the evenings, you can find me attending hot yoga classes, rushing to Discount Tuesday movie showings, obsessing over the artistry in award-show music performances, playing with fashion, finding new ice cream spots, and petting some cats.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself? I just hope people who look like me know that we are allowed to take up space in creative fields too!
