Grad Knight to Know: Joy Slabaugh ’23M

By Emily Horowitz | February 10, 2023
Headshot of Joy Slabaugh, who will earn her Master of Arts in Counseling from Arcadia in 2023, and her dog

Hometown: Wilmington, Del.

Program: Master of Arts in Counseling, Concentration in Trauma: Clinical Bases of Treatment and Recovery

Why Arcadia? I chose Arcadia for two reasons: 1) through their commitment to teaching multiculturalism in every course and class, I knew I’d learn how to counsel people with lived experiences different than my own and 2) their commitment to soliciting and acting on feedback gave me confidence that the student experience would be better than most. Both have proven to be true.

Post-grad Plans: I’ll be providing high-quality counseling to people from marginalized communities at price points that make care accessible.

Hobbies: I love to read!! I also enjoy being in nature, walking my dog, and spending time with friends and family.

If you’re interested in learning more about Arcadia’s Master’s in Counseling program, an online information session will take place on Wed., March 8, from 10-11 a.m.
