Students in Arcadia’s Honors Program presented their semester-long projects at the HONORS PROJECTions event on November 30. The cohort of 17 students shared their work, experiences, and outcomes from their projects with the community in Brubaker 301 and on Zoom.

As part of their requirements for graduating from the Honors Program, students are required to complete a self-guided, semester-long project that exists outside of their major. Each student works with a mentor who is connected to the discipline of the project; this could be a faculty member, staff member, community member, or someone else. Along the way, students will work collaboratively with one another to brainstorm further ideas and improve their projects. The goal of the Honors project is to allow students to explore their passions in ways that their individual senior capstone projects may not allow them to.

“The reason we do this project outside of their majors is so that students never have to say they don’t know how to do something if they want to do it,” said Helene Klein, assistant dean of Honors and Accelerated Programs. “They never have to be just one thing. We do this to show them that you can be anything you want to be, as long as you’re able to ask for help.”
