Nicole Ducray ’24 is well on her way to achieving her goal of working for a global public health non-profit that addresses health disparities thanks in part to a study abroad scholarship. Earlier this year, the Public Health major and Sociology minor was selected to participate in the Vira I. Heinz (VIH) program for women, non-binary, and transgender global leaders.

As part of the program, Ducray received a scholarship to study in the Netherlands last summer to explore the Dutch approach to public health and its healthcare system. This fall, Ducray will complete the program requirements with a Community Engagement Experience (CEE), collaborating with another VIH recipient at Carlow University. They will be hosting an online webinar on November 30 at 7 p.m. to feature the knowledge they have gained over the summer. Anyone is welcome to attend and can sign up here.

At Arcadia, Ducray is a member of the women’s swimming team, the leadership team of Arcadia Christian Fellowship, and a peer mentor in the Honors Program. She appreciates how supportive Arcadia is toward allowing students to study abroad. She is excited to announce that she will participate in another study abroad program in spring 2023 with the Arcadia London Center.
