Philadelphia Actuaries Club Recognizes, Donates to Actuarial Science Program
The Actuaries Club of Philadelphia donated $500 in support of Arcadia’s Actuarial Science program during the organization’s meeting on February 23.
Arcadia was one of three programs recognized at the meeting along with Temple University and St. Joseph’s University.
Three students from the program attended the meeting with Dr. Weihong Ni and Professor Irina Pogrebivsky. At the meeting, they attended an actuarial professionalism session and had the opportunity to network with local actuaries.
The keynote speaker, Sara Goldberg, who is a member of the SOA Board of Directors and current Director of Climate Risk Modeling with PwC, discussed the Society of Actuaries pivot towards climate change research and the role actuaries can play in that important area.
About the Actuarial Science Program
Majoring in Actuarial Science at Arcadia University prepares students for actuarial exams or career paths outside the exam track. Faculty in the program come from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, including an FSA Certified actuary with over 25 years of experience in the industry, as well as professors with PhDs in statistics and actuarial science. The program also works closely with an advisory board of local practicing actuaries to connect students with the professional world.
