The Hidden Opponent’s Fourth Annual Ig-Knight the Hope 5K Shines Light on Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention

Arcadia University’s chapter of The Hidden Opponent (THO) will host its fourth annual Ig-Knight the Hope 5K on campus on Sunday, Sept. 21. Aligning with THO’s central focus, the race will help promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention by uniting students, faculty, staff, and community members in support of a common cause.
The event begins with check-in at 9 a.m. ahead of a 10 a.m. start to the race. The route will loop around campus twice for runners and once for walkers. THO has partnered with Bryn Mawr Racing Company to provide official race bibs and accurate completion times.
“This event is very near and dear to Arcadia THO’s heart,” explained THO President Abby Stephens ’26. “We hold the event to bring the community together for a fun activity, but also as a larger reminder that mental health awareness and suicide prevention are so important. It is a reminder that it is okay to not be okay, and that you are never alone.”
At the race, THO will have an information table set up to provide attendees with resources supporting awareness of mental health, as well as information about the chapter. Participants can also purchase tickets for several raffles supported by local sponsors, with proceeds going toward the chapter’s upcoming mental health initiatives. This year, 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy in Jenkintown will provide post-race snacks and beverages for participants. Top race finishers, as well as the Arcadia athletics team with the highest turnout, will receive awards.
Anyone interested in participating in the race can sign up here before race day.
