WHYY’s Kevin McCorry ’10M to Speak on Education in PA for Writers Return to Campus
The Writers Return to Campus series welcomes Kevin McCorry ’10M, award-winning senior education writer for WHYY, to Arcadia on Friday, Oct. 9. McCorry will speak on his experience covering education in Pennsylvania and on the struggles in the Philadelphia school system. The event is free and open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Rose Room.
McCorry has reported for WHYY since 2012, transitioning to senior education writer in 2013. His reporting has appeared in local and national outlets, and he has worked on nationally distributed NPR programs “All Things Considered,” “Morning Edition,” “Here and Now,” and “The Takeaway.” McCorry also runs WHYY’s “Multiple Choices,” a podcast focusing on Pa. education. McCorry’s work can be found at Newsworks.org and the Philadelphia Public School Notebook.
In 2013, McCorry’s work placed first in the feature writing category from the Pennsylvania Associated Press (AP); in 2014, AP recognized his reporting on the budget crisis in Philadelphia public schools.
