Return to Campus

Planning for Fall

Our faculty and staff have organized and worked throughout the summer to prepare to welcome students and community members this Fall 2020. After careful consideration, Arcadia has decided to move all courses fully online and suspend on-campus housing for our students for the fall semester. Recognizing the importance that an in-person, vibrant campus community has for students, we are working hard toward a January reopening of on-campus living and classes, while closely monitoring all health and safety trends to do so safely.

Learn about the online experience and hear tips and experiences from our students, faculty, and staff.

All-Modes Ready Fully Online

This fall, Arcadia University’s “All-Modes Ready” approach will support your experience inside and outside the classroom.

Important Information for All Arcadia Students

Academic Update

Our faculty and staff have worked all summer on All-Modes Ready preparation in case we needed to seamlessly transition to a fully online delivery. After the urgency of shifting courses in the spring, Arcadia invested in innovative course redesigns, operational shifts, and new technology applications to create a high-quality student experience in whatever modalities are available to us, including fully online.

Student Experience

Arcadia values how essential meaningful and engaging student life is to the University experience, and our Student Affairs team has created fun and engaging ways for students to stay connected both outside of the classroom and in an online environment. In addition to recently welcoming our new Knights into the Arcadia family through our online Summer Orientation, we have designed new opportunities for students to engage and socialize digitally. Regardless of where you are, we are committed to opportunities for you to get involved.

Housing and Meal Plan Fees

The University will process a credit for housing and meal plan fees. These credits will apply automatically to student accounts; any remaining credit will carry forward to the next academic semester, Spring 2021. For students who are graduating or transferring, these refunds will be processed automatically. Continuing students seeking a refund rather than a credit, or resident students with any financial concerns, should contact One-Stop Shop at 215-517-2339 or

We will work with students who currently live on campus to assist with finding alternative housing arrangements. Student Affairs staff will be in touch with these individuals soon with additional information.

Tuition and Fees

Our entire campus community has been mobilized to provide high-quality student experiences and programs this coming academic year, regardless of the mode of delivery. Therefore, tuition and fees will remain the same for 2020-21, as academic credit, learning, and a wide range of non-academic services will be provided. We will review financial aid packages in light of the economic impact COVID-19 might be having on students and their families. Arcadia University works hard to meet the economic needs of its students through financial aid, and we remain committed to providing access and opportunity.

Arcadia Abroad

The London Center offers an enticing array of courses taught by our Arcadia in London faculty. The Fall 2020 program combines online and in-person opportunities in two six-week teaching blocks. In addition to online courses, Arcadia students may enhance their credentials and gain valuable professional experience through our Intern Philly program this fall. For more information on both these opportunities, contact Scott Terry and/or Ashley Knueppel in the Arcadia Office of Study Away.

To support a fully online modality, students will need a device (laptop or tablet) with a camera and microphone that can run applications such as Zoom and platforms such as Canvas (for in-class sessions, you will need earbuds with a built-in microphone). Students will also need regular access to a high-speed internet connection. If you don’t have the required technology or internet access, students can contact the Help Desk at to discuss options.

All Athletics facilities remain closed until further notice. When it is safe to resume on-campus operations, Athletics will inform the University community on its plans for reopening. An update regarding specific campus offices, hours, and operations will be shared with the University community shortly.

International Students

Arcadia will be in touch with our International students shortly regarding fall 2020. Recent restrictions announced by the U.S. government are antithetical to our mission and values as an inclusive, global community. Read the full message from the Office of International Programs.

Coronavirus: Updates and Information

The spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving situation. Arcadia University is monitoring resources and updating the community regularly.

Making Informed Decisions

We believe that ongoing challenges with COVID-19 testing, the uncertain delivery date for an effective vaccine, and the likelihood of future surges of infection mean that we must do everything possible to adapt to the current reality rather than just wait for it to pass. Most reasonable estimates suggest a 12 to 24-month time frame, which still depends on the development and deployment of an effective vaccine.

We anticipate that some students who are concerned about possible exposure will opt to participate remotely and online. The same will likely be true for faculty who are members of high-risk groups or who have members of their household who are high risk. Arcadia’s all-modes approach allows us to put care for others at the forefront of all that we do, while also maintaining maximum discretion for each individual to make the choice that is right for them.

All-Modes Ready Identity Guide

As we approach the fall semester, all units and departments are communicating plans and important information across the Arcadia University community. To keep content consistent and within the University brand, we have created an All-Modes Ready Identity Guide for use on any Arcadia publications and presentations.

Since Montgomery County entered Pennsylvania’s green phase on June 26, Arcadia employees continue to telework where possible. Employees will keep their unit plans and communicate with their supervisor.
