Return to Campus

Planning for Fall Return to Campus

Our faculty and staff have organized and worked throughout the summer to prepare to welcome students and community members back to campus this Fall 2020. Our plan includes being All-Modes Ready for our students, staff, and faculty to combine in-person, blended, and fully online learning and student experiences. Our flexible approach aligns with public health recommendations and respects the choice of those who want to minimize social contact, while allowing us to deliver outstanding learning experiences no matter the modality.

Our flexible approach offers an in-person, blended, or fully online quality academic experience.

Envisioning the Fall Semester: An All-Modes Update and Check-In for Faculty and Staff

Provost Jeff Rutenbeck and All-Modes team members will provide updates and answer questions about the work we are all undertaking to build an engaging, successful fall semester. This webinar will especially focus on discussing how our preparations and planning will navigate us through this period of uncertainty – and on developing common understandings and expectations about the coming academic year that we can share confidently with our students.

A Message from the President

Planning Our Return to Campus

Click here to read President Ajay Nair's June 29 letter to the University community detailing Arcadia's plans on reopening campus in the fall.

On July 9, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) President's Council announced that the MAC intends to pursue fall athletics competition, with each campus formulating plans for resocialization that will comply with local, state, and NCAA guidelines. Competition will be limited to MAC instititutional members beginning no earlier than Sept. 18 and with the goal of reaching NCAA minimums in all sports. Arcadia Athletics will continue communicating with student-athletes and the University community on its plans for fall athletics. In the interim, all Arcadia athletics facilities will remain closed through at least July 31.

Students will need a device (laptop or tablet) with a camera and microphone that can run applications such as Zoom and platforms such as Canvas (for in-class sessions you will need earbuds with a built-in microphone). Students will also need regular access to a high-speed internet connection. If you don’t have the required technology or internet access, students can contact the Help Desk ( to discuss options.

Study Abroad

Plans are underway for those students who were deferred from spring 2020 to 2021 Preview. Arcadia is also working on decisions for incoming student's spring Preview, GFS, and study abroad opportunities for the coming academic year. More information will be shared as details become available.

International Students

International students will always have a home at Arcadia. Recent restrictions announced by the U.S. government are antithetical to our mission and values as an inclusive, global community. Read full message from the Office of International Programs

Dining Services

Dining will offer meals starting on Aug. 17. A fourth dining facility on campus, a new eatery/coffee shop in the Oak Summit lobby, will offer a variety of options, including Starbucks coffee. Metz Dining Services will have to-go opportunities for students, and dining facilities will be set up to allow for social distancing while eating.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees will be the same regardless of the learning environment during 2020-21, as academic credit, learning, and certain non-academic services will be provided, though in different ways, whether on campus, in a hybrid environment, or entirely remotely. Although situations may be different due to necessary health and safety protocols, Arcadia’s mission remains the same and we will deliver a high-quality and meaningful, though not identical, experience.

Any student with questions or inquiries about accessibility should contact Disability Specialist Jessica Holdren (215-572-4033,

Since Montgomery County entered Pennsylvania’s green phase on June 26, Arcadia employees continue to telework where possible. Employees will continue their unit plans of working remotely through the end of July, unless otherwise communicated by their supervisor.

Campus Life

Staying connected is essential to your Arcadia experience. We are designing new opportunities for you to engage and socialize virtually and in person. Regardless of where you are, we are committed to helping you get involved. More information will be shared regarding student clubs, organizations, and activities as we approach the fall semester.

Coronavirus: Updates and Information

The spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving situation. Arcadia University is monitoring resources and updating the community regularly.

Making Informed Decisions

We believe that ongoing challenges with COVID-19 testing, the uncertain delivery date for an effective vaccine, and the likelihood of future surges of infection mean that we must do everything possible to adapt to the current reality rather than just wait for it to pass. Most reasonable estimates suggest a 12 to 24-month time frame, which still depends on the development and deployment of an effective vaccine.

We anticipate that some students who are concerned about possible exposure will opt to participate remotely and online. The same will likely be true for faculty who are members of high-risk groups or who have members of their household who are high risk. Arcadia’s all-modes approach allows us to put care for others at the forefront of all that we do, while also maintaining maximum discretion for each individual to make the choice that is right for them.
