Fall 2020 Campus Life and Dining Services

Campus Life

Staying connected outside of the classroom is essential to your Arcadia experience. We are designing new opportunities for you to engage and socialize virtually and in person. Regardless of where you are, we are committed to helping you get involved.

More information will be shared regarding student clubs, organizations, and activities as we approach the fall semester.

Dining Services

Dining facilities are prepared to offer meals starting on Aug. 17. A fourth dining facility on campus, a new eatery/coffee shop in the Oak Summit lobby, will offer a variety of options including Starbucks coffee. Metz Dining Services will have to-go options for students, and dining facilities will be set up to allow for social distancing while eating.

Athletics and Recreation

On July 15, Arcadia Athletics and the Office of Campus Recreation announced that they have reimagined their typical programming and offerings to provide a safe environment for students for the fall 2020 semester. We intend to offer a variety of leagues and one-day events that are fun and engaging while also limiting physical contact and promoting social distancing. Arcadia's programming may include:

  • Basketball horse tournaments
  • Basketball three-point shooting contests
  • Basketball half-court shot contests
  • Cornhole
  • Ping pong
  • Badminton
  • Soccer crossbar shooting challenges
  • Soccer upper 90 shooting challenges
  • Football punt and pass challenges
  • Spikeball
  • Virtual billiards events
  • Virtual wellness challenges
  • Sport-specific video game competitions (Madden, FIFA, etc.)
  • Outdoor doubles volleyball
  • Wiffle Ball
  • Home Run Derby
  • Mini golf
  • Bowling
  • Group exercise

Many of our standard leagues and events that involve high-contact competition will be delayed until the spring, including soccer, volleyball, softball, flag football, and more. We are continually evaluating changing health conditions and will adjust our programming as needed.

Campus Recreation staff will disinfect shared equipment to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and adhere to Arcadia's Fall 2020 Health and Safety Guidelines that ask our community members to:

  • Wear a mask
  • Maintain social distance
  • Monitor your health daily
  • Practice respiratory hygiene
  • Use proper hand sanitation
  • Minimize gatherings and meetings.

If you have any questions, please contact Ro Ramirez, the Coordinator of Campus Recreation, via email at ramirezr@arcadia.edu. More updates on Athletics will be shared with the University community as information becomes available from the NCAA, MAC, and University.
