Certification Initiative In Mathematics and Science (CIMS)
Phila. Teaching Fellows Cohort 9/CIMS


Program Goal:

To implement and evaluate an innovative program designed to enable experienced regular and special education teachers and career changers to become “highly qualified” teachers of secondary mathematics or science.

Coursework

CIMS participants will complete certification area courses through Arcadia University. Tuition certification courses will be paid by the CIMS Grant and tuition for background courses will be paid for by the student (if applicable). Fulfillment of background requirements will be handled on an individual basis with the Program Director/Academic Advisor.

Students will register for Arcadia courses through the Self-Service link found here or through the Self-Service link on MyArcadia. If you have not used Self-Service to register in the past, please see our tutorials below for assistance.

Support

Mentors

All CIMS participants will be supported by an in-school mentor for the first year of the program. Please contact Emily Netter, CIMS Grant Coordinator, for information on your mentor or if you need additional support throughout your program.

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is available for all CIMS Participants. Our tutor, Michael Aviles, will be available to support you with content area questions in Mathematics, General Science, Biology, and Chemistry during the following times:
Mondays   4pm- 8pm
Thursdays   4pm- 8pm
Saturdays   12pm- 4pm
Sundays   12pm- 4pm
