The minor in Philosophy supplements many major programs, especially Business, Criminal Justice, English, History, International Studies, Sociology, and Politics, Government, and Law, by enabling students to analyze and address complex problems and nuanced arguments as well as strengthening critical writing skills. Students, regardless of major, can complete the minor in Philosophy.
Required Course
Learn how to break down arguments and spot errors in reasoning. This course introduces symbolic logic, covering informal fallacies, syllogisms, and propositional logic. You’ll use proof methods to test the validity of arguments and sharpen your critical thinking.
Elective Course
Build your research and writing skills through a philosophy lens. You’ll learn how to find, evaluate, and use sources, develop proposals, revise papers, and craft strong arguments for different audiences and formats.
