Anonymous Knight Recognizes Soph Ward ’29 for Demonstrating Knight Code of Honor
Receiving a congratulatory email from Arcadia’s Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct was a pleasant surprise for first-year Chemistry major Soph Ward. Someone anonymously submitted the Pittsburgh, Pa., native’s name for demonstrating the Knight Code of Honor, specifically the Lived Value of Responsibility. They wrote in the recognition form that Ward is “always on top of their school work, and on top of doing chores. I saw this person both be responsible in the classroom and in the dorms. This student deserves to be recognized for their amazing work. This student also is responsible for living on their own and taking care of what is needed.”
For Ward, the Knight Code of Honor is an important element of leading by example. “[It] shows an outline for personal growth, honesty, and inclusivity in the environment around us. [This recognition] gives the spotlight to responsible, good students that deserve the recognition for what they’re doing for our community.”
Community is what brought Ward to Arcadia in the first place. “I chose Arcadia for the diverse and inclusive environment and community within it,” she says. “I also chose Arcadia for the endless opportunities they offer us students.”
Some of the opportunities Ward has taken advantage of in her first semester include the Honors Program, rock climbing, and karate. She is also in the process of learning Russian and Norwegian – “I’m doing great!” Other hobbies Ward enjoys include fashion, community service, and reading.
