Hoyer ’26 Blends Art, Education, and Global Experience

On any given day, you might find Becca Hoyer ’26 teaching in a classroom, designing an exhibition, or mentoring peers in the Writing Center, a reflection of the wide-ranging experiences she has had at Arcadia.
The Art Education major with a Graphic Design concentration from Lititz, Pa., has stayed busy on campus as a lead consultant in the Writing Center, an exhibitions assistant and designer with Arcadia Exhibitions, and a Mac Lab monitor, all while student-teaching.
“A big goal I had was to really push myself to get the most out of college in my studies as well as socially,” Hoyer said. “I learned about managing my time and energy to show up to everything and complete all my assignments/commitments while also prioritizing time with loved ones and self-care.”
Earlier this year, two pieces of her artwork were selected for the 2026 Student Biennial, hosted by Arcadia Exhibitions, and she received the Spruance-Daumier Award for excellence in art by a senior at Honors Convocation. Among these accomplishments, Hoyer’s favorite memories of Arcadia span from everyday occurrences to once-in-a-lifetime experiences abroad.
“There are so many,” she said. “For my top three I’d say the first days of spring sunshine every year when everyone is out on the green together, my friends and I really like to hammock or sit out on blankets, traveling to Bali to learn about sustainability and explore a beautiful place on the other side of the world, and silly late nights in either the Mac Lab with my classmates or in the gallery with my co-workers, when we’re really trying to be productive but are just so tired and delirious that everything is hilarious.”

Alongside her Global Field Study experience in Bali, Indonesia, Hoyer also traveled to London as part of the Preview the World program as a first-year. Looking ahead, Hoyer plans to pursue a career that blends her passions for art, design, and education.
“My plan is to move in with my girlfriend in downtown Philly and start working as an art teacher or graphic designer or a little bit of both while she attends grad school at UPenn!” she said. “The two of us really love traveling, so we plan on having a constant ‘travel savings’ going, and whenever it adds up to enough money to go somewhere, we’ll plan a cool trip!”
“I’m really grateful for all that Arcadia has given me…patience and support when I needed it, skills and experience to launch me into my career, and life-long friendships and relationships that I’ll have long after graduation.”
