Dear Arcadia University Community,
Arcadia University is built upon a lineage of traditions, values, social impact, and academic excellence that we can trace back to the mid-19th century. Each class, generation, student, and graduate has carried on this legacy.
Since our inception, we have dared to dream, we have strived to maintain a welcoming and inclusive campus environment, and we have ventured beyond our campus community to study and impact communities in six continents.
We embody an institution where the legacy of alumni who fought for justice and equity as freedom riders during the Civil Rights era is reflected in the anti-Black racism initiatives and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) efforts of today’s and tomorrow’s Arcadia students.
We maintain a legacy of an institution where art is celebrated and cherished, and where it is fitting that Arcadia University is now the permanent home of the Pati Hill collection.
Twenty years ago, as we moved into our third century of pioneering education, we attained University status. We must continue to be as ambitious and bold as those who came before us; we must continue to use our scholarship, talents, and energy to address issues of injustice and inequity; and we must, through our daily efforts on campus, locally, and around the world, honor the legacy of those who dared to dream of an educational institution that would develop leaders who will become a reflection of the world that we want to live in.
This April, I celebrated my third anniversary as president of this historic institution. When I reflect on how much we have accomplished as a community, my feelings are eclipsed only by the promise of what we may accomplish together in writing the next chapter of Arcadia University’s history.
Sincerely,
Ajay Nair, Ph.D.
President
