Paying It Foward

During my time at Arcadia, Dr. Ana Maria Garcia, associate professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice, and Dr. Doreen Loury, associate professor and director of Pan African Studies, invested their time, energy, and emotional support to help me thrive at Arcadia and beyond. They provided me with opportunities to experience how people of color and the LGBTQ community can help encourage change. Because of them, I now see the impact I can make to help future leaders and activists.

The Suite Life

My most cherished memory at Arcadia is when I lived with a great group of friends in a suite in Knight Hall. I was one of the first students who were able to live in co-ed housing on campus. That year was full of laughter, adventures, love, and growth. When I think back on my life, it was truly one of the most fun experiences.

A Dream Achieved

My greatest achievement has been fulfilling my parents’ wish for me to learn, grow, and achieve more than they were able to in Puerto Rico. By staying true to the values they instilled in me of hard work, perseverance, and faith, I am a living testament to the immigrant dream for their children.

I am a living testament to the immigrant dream for their children.
