Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies; Master of Science in Public Health
Physician assistant who has spent much of his career in Uganda, Sudan, and South Sudan working in public health outreach efforts and community services programs
A truly global experience at Arcadia has led me down an unlikely path. I spent two months in Uganda during my final year at Arcadia in 2006, and I have spent time in Uganda every year since. I’ve spent more time living in foreign countries since I graduated than I have in the U.S.! Arcadia helped open my eyes to the possibilities beyond the borders of my own country and encouraged a sense of exploration and adventure that has continued to grow within me.
I moved to Sudan—which then became South Sudan—and learned how to survive and in many ways, thrive in a culture very different than what I knew. I learned to get water from the borehole, cook over charcoal, survive without electricity, speak a new language, make cross-cultural friends, work in the local health center with an all South-Sudanese staff, and function in everyday life while enjoying it immensely.
A truly global experience at Arcadia has led me down an unlikely path.
