College of Arts and Sciences

English

Arcadia has Grey Towers Castle, but the English Major is not a cloistered “ivory tower” experience. It deepens your understanding of the world, helps you appreciate the perspectives of other cultures, sharpens your critical reading and writing strategies, and prepares you to enter the job market with analytical and writing skills that all employers want to see in college graduates.

Our B.A. program offers an English literature major or a concentration in Creative Writing, or the path to certification for teaching at the secondary or college level.

Bachelor of Arts Program

The highly versatile M.A. in English program offers three areas of emphasis—literary study, creative writing, and technical and professional writing.

Master of Arts Program

Arcadia University’s low-residency M.F.A. program in Creative Writing, the only one of its kind in the Philadelphia area, is distinctive in that it incorporates both a dynamic online environment and a study abroad experience.

Spotlight on English Internships

“It is important to be able to adapt and be accessible to the general public, which I had to do at The OWP. Having to adapt to their style and rules helped me grow as a writer and make me more adaptable, a skill that will help me greatly in grad school and, eventually, in the workplace. Second, it taught me responsibility and time management."

- Jordan Meyerl, Correspondent Intern, and promoted to Executive Director of U.S. Division, The Organization for World Peace
