Dr. Seuss Day: Call for Volunteers

By Caitlin Burns | February 9, 2016

The Community and Civic Engagement Center (CCEC) will host its annual community event that celebrates Dr. Seuss and his contributions to children’s literacy.

Dr. Seuss Day will be held on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle, and is open to the public. Volunteers are needed to work the various  mini carnival activities stations, including face-painting, juggling, storytelling, and button making. Volunteers are needed from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on the day of the event.

Additionally, the Arcadia community is encouraged to get creative with a Seuss-themed cake contest that will be judged by the children who attend the event. Cakes should be dropped off at the castle between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The winner will receive a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card.

This event was established in memory of Jami Rodriguez, an Arcadia alumna and all donations received go toward  the Jami Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship, which “recognizes current full-time undergraduates who have made contributions to campus life through dedication and community service.”

Sign up to volunteer at Dr. Seuss Day.
