Madi Costigan ’24
Major: English
Minor: Political Science
Hometown: Marriottsville, Md.
I am a student-athlete on Arcadia’s softball team, as well as a bumble bee in the Honors Program and a consultant in the Writing Center. These experiences and my unique combination of major and minor give me so much access to student life at Arcadia, so I have a lot to blog about!

Jo Creollo ’24
Major: Media and Communication
Minors: English, Marketing
Hometown: Levittown, Pa.
If I’m not playing with my cat, Wisteria, or listening to Elton John, you can find me sitting in my apartment with my nose in a book. In my work as a Student Government Organization (SGO) senator, I have made a lot of amazing connections on campus and have had many great experiences. I cannot wait to share my Arcadia stories with you!

JJ Demetrius ’26
Major: English (Creative Writing)
Hometown: Lansdale, Pa
Besides my obvious passion for writing, I love to travel, do makeup, and make jewelry! I am constantly all around Arcadia and Glenside always in clubs and finding new things to do. I’ve already made so many new connections here in just my first semester and I can’t wait for everything to come.

Major: Biology (Pre-Physician Assistant)

You can find me just about anywhere on campus: from Jean Lenox Field to Landman Library. I am a nerd-athlete who loves studying Biology just as much as I love playing lacrosse. I am a part of Arcadia's Honors Program (and Adulting 101 Committee), Arcadia Christian Fellowship, and a volunteer at Temple University Hospital Emergency room.

Micah Gordley ’24
Major: Scientific Illustration (Pre-Med)
Hometown: Lancaster, Pa.
Aside from running around campus as a member of cross country and track and field, you can find me in the studio painting or drawing, in a lab, or taking care of my plants. I drink an alarming amount of coffee and am outside anytime the sun is shining. I love getting to share with you all about my experiences and what makes Arcadia home!

Danita Mapes ’23
Major: Media and Communication (Multimedia Publishing)
Hometown: Hatboro, Pa.
When I'm not writing poetry or reading articles, I work as the editor-in-chief of Loco Mag and editor for The Compass! My passions include disability activism, especially within education.

Amellia McGuire-Matheny ’25
Major: Biology (Pre-Med)
Hometown: Bend, Ore.
Hello! My name is Amellia McGuire-Matheny and I am a Biology major on the Pre-Medicine Track. I have also studied abroad in London and I will be going to Fiji for global field study. I also run a couple of clubs on campus so my blog is made up of some tips and tricks I have learned throughout the many different types of things I do on campus and off campus.

Zara Peters ’26
Major: Undeclared
Hometown: St. Petersburg, Fla.
I’m in love with all forms of creativity, whether that be acting and writing, or fashion and photography. I’m also on the esports Valorant team and work as an esports arena attendant in addition to writing for Because Arcadia! I am also a big fan of Marvel and love Percy Jackson (very excited for the tv series). I’m super excited to share my experiences with you all!

Miranda Razzi ’26
Major: International Business and Culture
Minor: Law and Public Policy
Hometown: Schwenksville, Pa.
Looking for a funny story or an interesting conversation? Sounds like I’m your girl! Aside from writing, I have a huge passion for comedy and different forms of media, including music, Marvel, and anime. In addition to blogging, I’m also a member of the UKnight Dance Team. I look forward to making plenty of connections while at Arcadia, whether it be through my writing or face-to-face. If you see me on campus, feel free to say hi!

Ethan Rodriguez ’25
Major: Media and Communication (Multimedia Publishing)
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
Sometimes I feel like I’m a little weird, and who knows, maybe I am. But I would rather be a little weird than a little boring. But when I’m not writing super awesome blogs, I’m dabbling in activism work. I’ve worked with PBS Newshour, WHYY, Temple News, and NBC10. Alongside other publications in the city. All for the purpose of using the written medium to highlight issues in my community. So I can help strive for a better tomorrow.

Brigid Whelihan ’23
Major: English (Creative Writing)
Hometown: Horsham, Pa.
Along with writing for Because Arcadia, I’m also the treasurer of Sigma Tau Delta (the English Honor Society) and a co-captain for ArcadiaFTK. When I’m not busy getting involved in just about everything I can on campus, I’m usually hiking with my dogs or out on the soccer field. I’m excited to share my favorite Arcadia experiences with you all!
