The Commuter Lounge, Commons, and Easton Café are just a few of the places commuter students can rest, hang out, and study in between classes. Our goal is to make all commuter students feel integrated with the campus community.

Commuter Lounge

The Commuter Lounge is located on the lower level of Heinz Hall. Students are welcomed to hang out between classes, fix a quick meal, meet other commuter students, and attend an array of commuter focused programs. Students must use their Knight Card to access the lounge via a Heinz Hall entrance. A wheelchair accessible entrance is located in the rear of the building, facing Knight and Taylor halls.

Amenities and resources include:

  • The Commuter Assistant Staff and Staff Office.
  • A relaxing gathering and gaming space.
  • A kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, sink, and some kitchen accoutrements.
  • A designated area for quiet study.
  • Bulletin boards filled with useful campus information and resources.
  • Lockers for storage (see details below).
Lockers

All commuter students are welcomed to reserve a locker within the Commuter Lounge for the academic year.  To do so, complete a locker tag.  Locker tags can be found hung directly on lockers during the first week of classes. Simply remove, complete, and submit at the Commuter Staff Office. Lockers will be reserved on a first-come, first served basis.  Once received, the Commuter Assistants will contact you to formally assign you a locker number.  You must provide your own lock.

Commuter Life is not responsible for damaged or stolen items stored in lockers. Students are encouraged to purchase renters insurance in the event they become victims of theft. If you live with your family, check with their homeowners insurance policy to determine if your property is protected.

Hours of Operation
  • Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Campus Guest Rooms

There are several Guest Rooms available across campus in our traditional residence halls. The guest rooms are standard single rooms with a bed, desk, and dresser. You will need to provide your own linens. Reservations must be submitted a minimum of 48 hours before you would like your reservation to begin. To make a request less than 48 hours in advance, please visit the Residence Life Staff Offices in Kistler or Heinz Halls. After 5:00 PM you may call the RA on Duty for that area to request if any guest rooms are available. If a guest room is available, the RA can assist you in reserving it.

In accordance with our guest policy, Guest Rooms may not be utilized for more than 2 nights in a 7 day period. We do not have guest rooms available during finals week or break periods. If you have questions about the policies and procedures surrounding Guest Room usage, please contact the Area Coordinators at 267-620-4127 (CKTD) or 267-620-4126 (HKC).

Reserve a Guest Room

Completing this form does not automatically generate a reservation. You will receive further information about space availability in regards to your reservation via email from the Area Coordinator for Castle, Kistler, Thomas, and Dilworth Halls or from the Area Coordinator for Heinz, Knight, and Commuter Life.

Commons

The Commons is one of the most popular spaces on campus to hang out. This student space is complete with a fireplace lounge, a game room, a fitness center, and plenty of comfy chairs and group study tables—all with a view of Haber Green.
