Interested in teaching but not pursuing an Education major? You can become certified to teach in Pennsylvania while earning your undergraduate degree in any major outside of Education.
High school and middle school teachers (grades 7-12) are in a unique position to help young learners develop social, emotional, and academic skills that will serve them throughout their lives.You may be considering teaching to these students and expand your earning potential of your undergraduate major by enrolling in a teacher preparation program taken concurrently with your undergraduate degree.
Arcadia’s School of Education offers initial certification at the undergraduate level while you are pursuing a major in Art or one of our secondary content areas. These programs taken concurrently with your relevant major, prepare students for professional teacher certification in Art PK-12 or specialized areas in grades 7-12.

Pennsylvania has signed the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement that provides for acceptance of state-approved educator preparation programs between certain states to facilitate educator mobility.
Arcadia University School of Education is an approved provider of educational programs leading to Pennsylvania Department of Education Professional Certification and offers certification at the undergraduate and post baccalaureate (graduate) levels. Arcadia University has not determined if our curriculum meets the requirements for teacher certification in other states or US territories.
