Arcadia has a comprehensive World Language Program in Spanish, Spanish Cultural Studies, and in French and Francophone Studies. As a global Education leader, Arcadia has robust programming to support Study Abroad in Spanish and French speaking countries.
These unique strengths provide the opportunity to offer students in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in either the Spanish/Spanish Cultural Studies degree program, or the French/Francophone Studies degree program to expand their career opportunities with programming to include an Education minor resulting in a PA teaching credential to teach World Languages in grades PK-12.
Arcadia’s World Language Education PK-12 certification program provides the knowledge, experience, skills and training to pursue a career in teaching Spanish or French. The program is designed to prepare students to become Level 1, certified teachers in Pennsylvania while pursuing their bachelor’s degree.
Begin your professional teaching journey with, Teaching for Learning. You will engage in classroom observations in the field as a group. The course will focus on themes of creating community and vibrant learning environments, creating cultures in learning environments and your personal learning history journey.
Explore the why, the who, the what, and the how of teaching. As you move through your journey of becoming a future educator, develop a strong foundation to design and implement instruction. You will have the opportunity to explore and develop your teaching philosophy, learn to write and deliver a lesson plan, and assessment student learning.
Arcadia University is ranked in the top 10 in the country for study abroad. Explore the options available for one or two semesters of study abroad—all are well integrated for French and Spanish within the majors of Francophone Studies, Spanish and/or Spanish Cultural Studies. Immerse yourself in French culture and language and study in Toulouse, France or Quebec, Canada.
Pennsylvania has signed the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement that provides for acceptance of state-approved educator preparation programs between certain states to facilitate educator mobility.
Arcadia University School of Education is an approved provider of educational programs leading to Pennsylvania Department of Education Professional Certification and offers certification at the undergraduate and post baccalaureate (graduate) levels. Arcadia University has not determined if our curriculum meets the requirements for teacher certification in other states or U.S. territories.
