Rob Buscher, adjunct professor of Japanese cinema and Asian American studies, was named program director of the Fleisher Art Memorial on Feb. 25. As program director, Buscher will oversee Fleisher’s exhibit programs, community outreach operations, and educational opportunities for adult and student artists.
Before joining Fleisher Art Memorial, Buscher was festival director for the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival and co-founded Zipangu Fest, the United Kingdom’s first Japanese film festival.
“I envision the many community partnerships I have built as the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival’s director helping Fleisher develop even stronger connections with the diverse communities that comprise Philadelphia,” said Buscher in a University City Review article. “I look forward to working with Fleisher’s staff and board to advance the organization’s long standing commitment to making art accessible to everyone.”
