Arcadia University is pleased to announce that Mary Sweeney has been appointed associate vice president of Human Resources. Sweeney assumes her role at Arcadia on Jan. 6, 2020.
Sweeney brings significant experience in all aspects of human resources, including performance management, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, employment law and compliance, recruitment and retention, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Since 2016, Sweeney has served as regional chief human resources officer (CHRO) and senior vice president (SVP) of Human Resources for the Mid/South Atlantic regions (2018-present) and regional CHRO and SVP of Human Resources for the Mid-Atlantic region (2016-18) at Trinity Health. There, Sweeney developed an HR strategy aligned with Trinity’s business strategy, focusing on talent management and development, succession planning, organizational design, and executive coaching. She also was responsible for strategic and operational leadership of human resources in the Mid-Atlantic and Mid/South Atlantic regions.
At Arcadia, Sweeney will assist with implementing the University’s Adaptive Strategy, with an emphasis on performance management and professional development. Sweeney will guide the University’s development of a total compensation strategy, and strengthening the employment experience for faculty, staff, and student workers.

Prior to her work at Trinity, Sweeney was vice president for Human Resources and Development and director of Colleague Benefits at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., and a human resources consultant at PROXUS HR in Fort Washington, Pa.
Sweeney earned a Master of Science in Human Resources Development at Villanova University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Administration at Temple University.
