Dr. Bruce Campbell, associate professor of Education and director of the Educational Leadership Masters and Supervisory Certification programs, co-hosted the webinar “Making Virtual Learning Manageable” on June 30. In the webinar, Dr. Campbell and Dr. Keith Look, senior director of programs for District Services at the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA), discussed what educators can learn from the transition to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how communities can change their education strategies for the coming school year.

Attendees of the webinar learned ISA’s “Simplify.Pattern.Train” (SPT) model of online learning, which emphasizes cohesion and communication between teachers, administrators, and families.

“Dr. Look and I discussed our own experiences of working with K-16 education settings and being fathers to elementary students during COVID-19,” said Dr. Campbell. “We shared lessons learned from this spring’s valiant virtual learning efforts and tips for relieving anxiety during this time.”

Dr. Campbell and Dr. Look plan on reconvening with webinar attendees during the school year to reflect upon the effectiveness of the SPT framework and execution.
