How Morris ’26 Practices Fearlessness Daily at Arcadia

When Political Science major Travis Morris ’26 began feeling overwhelmed by stress and the sense that “everyone was watching” him, he decided to confront it in a unique way.

“I’d just go visit random cafés whenever I felt like it,” the Philadelphia native said. “Being fearless really means that even when you’re afraid to do something, you go and do it anyway.”

Walking into unfamiliar spaces alone became Morris’s resistance against anxiety. What started as a personal challenge evolved into a daily practice of pushing beyond his comfort zone.

“Every day, I try to do something I’m not comfortable with,” he said. “I try to eat by myself, and I get very stressed out about that. But I try to just do it anyway and tell myself, ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’”

That mindset recently earned Morris recognition for demonstrating fearlessness as part of the Knight Code of Honor, which celebrates Arcadia University students who embody its Lived Values.

“This scholar stands as a testament to intellectual freedom and fearlessness, unconfined by place or expectation; his influence extends wherever his mind and presence reach,” wrote the anonymous Knight who nominated Morris. “So excited to witness what your future holds and see you enjoy the fruits of your labor!”

For Morris, the recognition affirmed his efforts and encouraged him to keep doing what he’s been doing.

“The Knight Code of Honor just asks you to be the best version of yourself that you can be,” he said. “A lot of people can’t see their progress, so letting them know, ‘Hey, I see you,’ motivates them to keep going.”

Morris’ commitment to growth extends across campus. He has served as a captain of the Arcadia cheer team, TKC, for four years, worked as a resident assistant, and been an active member of the Black Awareness Society.

After graduating, Morris plans to pursue a career as a criminal defense attorney. He intends to apply for internships, take the LSAT, and attend law school, a path that will demand the same courage he practices daily.
