Recognize a Knight for Demonstrating the Knight Code of Honor
For the past three years, members of the Arcadia University community have been asked to submit the names of Arcadia students they see demonstrating the Knight Code of Honor.
Once again, the submission form is now open for students, faculty, and staff to recognize students who exemplify the University’s Lived Values:
- Adaptable
- Excellence
- Fearless
- Integrity
- Intellectual Freedom
- Justice
- Respectful
- Responsible
All students whose names are submitted during the year are invited to a celebration in the spring, hosted by the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
Kailyn Houston-Young ’26 has been recognized multiple times. She attended the 2024 and 2025 editions of what she referred to as “a giant feast in honor of the hard work [we] have been doing.” They were also the student keynote speaker this year.
“Being recognized for demonstrating Arcadia’s Lived Values means a lot to me,” she said. “It’s just further proof that Arcadia was the school for me, as the Lived Values aren’t something I consciously think about embodying… Seeing that someone is noticing you, even if you don’t notice them!”
Though faculty and staff are eligible to call out students for practicing the Lived Values, Houston-Young says there’s something extra special about peer recognition.
“I think that students should recognize their peers because it makes us feel seen. Not only by the staff, which is also of importance, but to be seen by your peers means something different entirely. Most students go through campus believing they are unnoticed; to be seen is one of the most touching things a human being can experience, in my opinion.”
