Fall 2020 Move-In, Orientation, and Housing

We have been working hard to facilitate an environment and experience for you this fall that will enable you to connect with other students and the Arcadia community, given the new COVID-19 realities.

Fall Move-In

  • Move-in for new resident students will occur between Aug. 14 and Aug. 26, by appointment only.
  • Returning resident student move-in will also occur between Aug. 14 and Aug. 30, also by appointment only.
  • Fall Orientation will be offered in an All-Modes capacity to facilitate participation by students both remotely and in-person.

Any student with questions or inquiries about accessibility should contact Disability Specialist Jessica Holdren (215-572-4033,

Housing Availability and Safety Information

To promote and protect the health and safety of our campus community, we are determining where we can reduce occupancy and ensure beds can be far enough apart to support social distancing while resident students sleep in double-occupancy rooms. We anticipate being able to accommodate students who have already requested single rooms. Other resident students will be in-double occupancy rooms throughout campus, except students who have requested or have been placed in the Castle Residence Hall rooms, as these rooms are larger and allow for more than two individuals in the space while maintaining appropriate distance.

To accommodate reduction in occupancy, almost all upperclass students (except Resident Assistants) will be housed in Oak Summit Apartments or off-campus university-managed units.

Housing Assignments

If you have not already done so, it is very important that you fill out your housing application.

We anticipate providing new students their housing assignment by July 20, including contact information for their roommate, if they have one. We anticipate providing returning students their updated housing assignments during the week of July 20. Some assignments will need to be adjusted to support health and safety efforts.

What to Bring

Residence and Commuter Life provides a resource to resident students about what to bring when moving in. We also suggest the following specific Health and Safety items:

  • Face masks (recommended 2-3 cloth masks)
  • Personal thermometer
  • First aid kit
  • Medications
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
