Graduate Programs in Teacher Certification
The Arcadia University School of Education is an approved provider of teacher education programs in Pennsylvania. These programs lead to Professional Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and are offered at the post-baccalaureate (graduate) level.
Arcadia has not determined whether these programs meet certification requirements in other states or U.S. territories.
Arcadia offers graduate-level teacher preparation programs for initial certification and for professional development or additional certifications.

Arcadia’s programs prepare skilled and dedicated educators through hands-on coursework based on current research and teaching methods. Students complete meaningful student teaching, fieldwork, or internship experiences. Flexible options are available for working professionals.
Students may enroll in a certification program alone or apply coursework toward a master’s degree.
After completing an approved certification program, students apply for certification through PDE’s Teacher Information Management System (TIMS) in MyPDESuite.
The University Certification Officer reviews each student’s academic record and program requirements. Once eligibility is confirmed, Arcadia submits a certification recommendation to PDE. Learn more about the TIMS application process.
Exit Requirements for Certification
To be recommended for certification, students must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete an approved certification program
- Earn a grade of B or higher in required student teaching, fieldwork, or internship
- Complete a professional portfolio
- Receive a recommendation from the University Certification Officer through TIMS
Certification Outside Pennsylvania
After receiving Pennsylvania certification, students seeking certification in another state may explore the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement. This agreement helps support educator mobility between participating states. Each state may have additional requirements.
