Elizabeth “Beth” Seybert ’11 was a semi-finalist in the Irene Ryan Competition and was selected to compete at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Region II on Jan. 14 for her role as Nani in The Princess Rescuers.

“The first round had 110 nominees,” says Seybert.  “There I was selected, along with my scene partner Morgan Everitt ’11 to move to the semi-finals round, which consisted of 32 nominees. That is where the journey ended for me. Through that experience I learned a lot however.

“After each round I got to meet with responders and judges, and they critiqued my acting choices. It is extremely helpful for an actor to hear other people’s thoughts, especially people who do not know us.  Everything they had to say was helpful and useful in shaping and sharpening my acting skills. I feel very blessed to have gotten that opportunity.

“At Arcadia University as an actor, in addition to The Princess Rescuers (Fall 2009), I have been Reba/Aide in A Visit to a Small Planet (Spring 2009); Crystal Allen in The Women (Spring 2009); and Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show (Fall 2008). I assistant stage managed Waiting for Lefty (Spring 2008) and worked on run crew for Carnival (Fall 2007).  I have also helped build every set since enrolling at Arcadia in 2007,” says Seybert, of Dallas, Pa.
