Show Leadership with Paver Pride, President Challenges Class of 2015

President Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III called class officers from 2012, 2013 and 2014 onto the stage during New Student Convocation on Aug. 30.

“Leadership is something we are going to be talking a lot about,” he said as he applauded the student leaders. He then hoisted up a large brick paver engraved “Class of 2015.” “This is your paver, and it is going on the Alumni Fund Walk of Pride.” Individual bricks bear the names of alumni who have contributed to the University in meaningful amounts.

“But I walked there today, and there are so few names!”

“This is your paver,” he said. “Don’t wait until you leave. It’s time for you to step up and show leadership. Make your mark while you’re here. Make a statement about what this place means to you.”

He challenged the Class of 2015 to out-do all of the classes already there by having 250 names in the Walk by graduation in four years. “That’s just $25 a year. Figure it out—It’s only a few lattes, cappuccinos, Frappucinos…. C’mon! Give it up for your school!”

Whether you are an alum or a current student, this challenge is to you! For more information on the Walk of Pride and paver pledges, contact Vanessa Jackson, Assistant Director of the Annual Fund, at jacksonv@arcadia.edu or 215-572-2098.
