Dr. Kerri Mesner, visiting professor in the School of Education, co-authored two chapters in a Routledge published book titled Arts-based and Contemplative practices in research and teaching: Honoring presence. She contributed to the chapters “Wrestling with the Angels of Ambiguity: Queer Paths in Contemplative Activism” and “Lectio Divina: An invitation to readers.” This innovative book draws on a broad range of artistic, contemplative, and pedagogical practices with a range of writers from Canada and the U.S. Dr. Mesner’s work has been documented in a video recording funded by a Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant. Dr. Mesner also co-wrote the chapter “Six Moments” in the book Out Proud: Stories of Pride, Courage, and Social Justice recently released in Canada by Breakwater Press, in partnership with Egale Human Rights Trust. Out Proud explores a wide range of social justice issues relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and allied communities.
