Dr. Crenshaw Appointed to NAFSA Co-Leader Position

By Caitlin Burns | February 7, 2018

In January, Associate Provost Dr. Sandra Crenshaw was appointed as co-chair to the NAFSA: Association of International Educators’ Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Committee. It is a two-year appointment.

Dr. Crenshaw’s team will focus on the creation and development of resources to support professionals in the field of study abroad and international education. Crenshaw’s role will be to develop these supports with a particular focus on graduate students, creating research and networking opportunities for those new to the profession. Dr. Crenshaw said Global Education is a comparatively new and emerging field, and NAFSA’s hope is to prepare graduate students to be effective scholar-practitioners.

“Because it’s an emerging field, the opportunities are endless in how we can build opportunities for NAFSA to be a leader in graduate development,” said Dr. Crenshaw. “My role focuses on  student-centered innovation that involves talking to the students about their needs and desires for the growth of the field.”

Dr. Crenshaw will conduct workshops and open sessions at the NAFSA 2018 annual conference, “Diverse Voices, Shared Commitment,” from May 27 to June 1 in Philadelphia. Dr. Crenshaw’s sessions will aim to bring together students, researchers, and project developers to help students gain experience in the field.
