Arcadia Hosts Seventh Annual African American Read-In, Featured on PBS39

Arcadia held the seventh annual celebration of Africana literature and writing with its Annual African American Read-In on Feb. 19. Hosted at Grey Towers Castle, the Read-In allowed community members to share some of their favorite works by African American writers.
Established in 1990, the National African American Read-In was created by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) in an effort to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. The National African American Read-In initiative has now reached more than 6 million participants internationally, with events being held at schools, libraries, and community centers.
Arcadia’s African American Read-In was hosted in collaboration with the Gateway to Success Program and the Office of Institutional Diversity.
