How Meal Plans Work:
Students are able to eat once per meal period or a maximum of 4 times per day. Students must swipe for all meals at the register so a meal can be deducted. Once the maximum amount of meals has been used for the week or semester, students may use their meal plan points if included, student charge, cash or charge to purchase additional meals.
Unused meals do not carry over to the following week. The weekly allotment of meals resets every Monday morning.
Meal Periods are as follows:
Breakfast at the Chat
7:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.
Lunch at the Dining Hall or Chat
11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Light Lunch* at the Dining Hall
Dinner at the Dining Hall or Chat
Late Night Dinner at the Chat
*Deli, Salad Bar, All Day Waffles, Bagels and Cereal, Soup, Dessert and Drinks. There is no hot option available during Light Lunch.
The Dining Hall offers all–you-care-to-eat style meals, while the Chat offers Meal Exchange or Cash Equivalency.
Meal Exchange at the Chat includes predetermined menu items that constitute an entrée, side, dessert/fruit and beverage.
Cash Equivalency allows you to purchase any item in the Chat, up to $6 excluding, F’real Smoothies and Milkshakes. Students must have another method of payment if the total purchase price exceeds $6
Commuter students and apartment residents who do not want to purchase a meal plan may designate funds on their account to be used at any Parkhurst dining location. Please contact the Parkhurst Dining Office directly for this option.
Faculty or Staff Meal Plans
Meal plans are available for faculty and staff members.
Meal Plan Changes
Students may add, drop, or change their meal plan through the end of the first week of classes each semester. Meal plan changes for returning students may be submitted via the Meal Plan Change Request Form on the Residence and Commuter Life Blackboard organization.
Please note that first-year residential students are assigned the 14 Meal Dining Plan and may only change to the 19 meal plan until the spring semester.
