Arcadia’s 23rd Annual Empty Bowl Dinner Brings Awareness, Raises Funds to Local, Global Hunger
Come for a meal and leave knowing you’ve made an impact on hunger at the 23rd annual Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner on Monday, Nov. 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Arcadia University’s Grey Towers Castle.
Empty Bowl is a community service event that brings together Arcadia University and local communities to combat hunger and homelessness around the world. Attendees select from hand-crafted, ceramic bowls, which they fill with delicious soups donated by area restaurants. Attendees take home their selected bowl to serve as a reminder that somewhere in the world, someone is without a meal or shelter.
This year, all proceeds from Empty Bowl will benefit the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network, a local agency that provides temporary shelter and food to homeless families, and The Hunger Project, which promotes hunger relief and economic stability through improved agricultural techniques world-wide.
Since its inception, Empty Bowl has raised more than $125,000 for hunger relief.
Attendees are asked each year to purchase a ticket in advance and donate one non-perishable item upon arrival. Tickets are $12 for students and will be on sale in the Commons on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the Dining Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 8 and Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online.
