Public Safety Helps Stock Food Pantry
In lieu of exchanging gifts this year, officers in Public Safety each donated supplies to the Knights for Nutrition Food Pantry located in Oak Summit.
Director of Public Safety Ruth Evans presented officers with a challenge: keep the food pantry’s Holiday Gift Box donation drive continuously full. In addition to non-perishable food items, officers also donated socks, hats, scarves and gloves.
“Our students are so important to us,” said Evans. “We have to protect and support our students, not just for the holidays, but always.”
The pantry, which has stayed open throughout the pandemic, is a coordinated effort by the Knights for Nutrition Committee, which includes the Community and Civic Engagement Center (CCEC), Metz Dining Services, and Student Affairs. During the semester, the pantry is open on Tuesdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the B Lobby Gym of Oak Summit.
