Xiani Coubarous-Carter ’26 Secures Position with Talent Booking Agency
Since April, Xiani Coubarous-Carter ’26, a Business Administration major with a concentration in Management, has been working as a social media strategist and booking agent for Vertical International (also known as Walt Reeder Entertainment). The organization, one of the largest Black-owned agencies in the United States, is known for its management services in booking talent for corporations, music venues, and more.
In her role, Coubarous-Carter is responsible for speaking with managers and promoters on the phone to discuss hiring entertainers for numerous types of events or performances. She’s even taken on some managerial roles including looking for talents for events, training new staff members, and expanding social media operations in the department. On top of that, she designs posters for social media that allow artists to include additional show times and dates if needed. Coubarous-Carter explains, “To ensure a smooth and successful event, I frequently need to pay close attention to their requirements, comprehend the artists’ preferences and availability, conduct contracts, and organize logistics.”
Coubarous-Carter first learned of Vertical International and the open positions within the agency at the Arcadia Office of Career Education’s Internship and Career Fair last year. “I applied for this job because I felt it would be a wonderful chance to work with someone who has over 50 years of experience managing their own successful business.” She says, “I was quite interested in the idea of learning from someone with such extensive knowledge and experience.” As a result, Coubarous-Carter believes that her communication, organization, management, and writing skills have all improved greatly during her time working with various managers and promoters.
