Class to Explore Art in Philadelphia—Every Friday

By Purnell T. Cropper | January 19, 2010

Don’t look on the course schedule to find where Fine Arts 286 will be meeting. Titled “Exploring Art in Philadelphia,” this 2-credit class meets on Fridays at different locations throughout the city, says Carole Loeffler, Assistant Professor Fine Arts. “We will explore a variety of the art available in Philadelphia and the surrounding region, including galleries, a fabric workshop, public sculptures, Philadelphia City Hall, and the Eastern State Penitentiary.”

“We will meet at a different location each week and go on self-guided tours as well as behind-the-scene tours of the inner workings of a variety of artistic venues, taking advantage of the wealth of art, artists and art-making available in the Philadelphia region.” Loeffler will be posting information about these excursions on the class blog at www.exploringartinphiladelphia.blogspot.com.
