Prior to visiting Dominica, Arcadia University students in Tom Brinker Jr. and Wayne Morra’s ID course studied the island’s tourism industry. Once on the island, the group met with Colin Piper, CEO and Director of Tourism of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), and Elizabeth Wayland, Director of Marketing, to discuss cruise tourism and Dominica’s positioning as an adventure island with potential to thrive as a premier health and wellness destination. After a presentation and Q&A session, Piper spoke about how the DDA is beginning to use social media and peer-to-peer marketing to reach a broader audience of prospective visitors.
