Art Student Dobson’s Photograph Selected in Onward Competition

By Purnell T. Cropper | December 21, 2011

Art Student Delaney Dobson found out that she had been selected as a winner in the ONWARD Compé ’12 photo content when she saw her name on a placard in a video—her name, that is, in a video shot in front of a new addition to Love Park, the giant yellow Kraft macaroni noodle, which showed up in November. Watch the video.

ONWARD Compé ’12 asked photographers to watch the video on its blog to find out the names of this year’s selected photographers.

“Last week, Todd Hido managed to narrow the astounding 2,434 submitted photographs down to a final selection of just 57 photographs from 50 photographers. This year we also experienced the widest international participation, with submissions coming in from 25 countries. Congratulations to the selected photographers!” says the ONWARD Compé blog. The exhibition’s opening reception is Feb. 11 from 2 – 4 p.m., at which point Onward will announce the recipients of the two Juror’s Awards, the competition’s top prizes.

Question #1—Does Dobson know which of her photographs were chosen? No, not yet, but she thanks Tamsen Wojtanowski for convincing her to apply.

Question #2—Does she like Kraft macaroni and cheese? Stay tuned.
