Arcadia’s first interdisciplinary Capstone features a gender and sexuality symposium on Wednesday, April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Grey Towers Castle Mirror and Rose Rooms.

“This symposium is different from our usual model of presenting Capstones by major. It is interdisciplinary, showcasing the works of students from many different majors whose theses focus on issues related to gender and sexuality. The event will include poster presentations, oral presentations, and documentary film screenings from students majoring in Anthropology, English, Media and Communications, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, and Video Communications,” says Dr. Dina Pinsky, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Coordinator of the Gender and Women’s Studies minor.

“Another unique aspect of this Capstone event is that representatives from non-profits focusing on women’s issues and LGBTQ rights are invited to attend so that they can see the wonderful work being done by our students and to provide a networking opportunity. We will have representatives from Project SAFE, Laurel House, ATTIC Youth Center, Soroptimist and Covenant House. There will be tables set up for the organization’s literature at the beginning of the symposium while the student posters are set up so that people can ask questions about the organizations while they are speaking to the student presenters. The rest of the evening will be devoted to oral presentations by students.”
