Dr. Graciela Slesaransky-Poe, founding dean of the School of Education, was featured as an expert on transgender and gender-nonconformity issues in The Philadelphia Inquirer on May 14. Slesaransky-Poe said she finds it concerning that the public conversation about the needs of transgender and gender-nonconforming students are reduced to bathrooms and lockers, after the Obama administration sent letters to school districts about the civil rights of these students.
