Over the weekend, a surge of coronavirus cases was reported in northern Italy, concentrated in small towns in the Lombardy and Veneto regions near Milan. We do not have programs in these areas.

New cases confirmed in Spain and Greece; previously, cases had been reported in the UK and other European countries.

Out of an abundance of caution, Arcadia’s Rome Center, the Umbra Institute in Perugia, and the Accademia Italiana in Florence have canceled some academic excursions, and are reevaluating the practicality of activities outside the classroom.

Communications have been sent to all students studying in Italy and Europe, their parents, and their home schools.

Students have been advised to avoid travel to the highly affected areas in northern Italy, to carefully consider other travel plans in light of the fluidity of the situation, and to notify Arcadia staff immediately if they exhibit symptoms of the virus.
