I am 20 years old, and spent the 2nd half of my life in Buffalo, NY and the 1st half in southern Connecticut. I am currently studying at University of Aberdeen in Scotland for the first semester of my junior year. I attend Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and am majoring in European Studies. I am in the process of an independent study that covers the role the Scots played in the foundations of Australia. I hope to add on similar research projects in the future during my academic career.
I became interested in Scotland when I was 14 because I at first admired the Romanticism of Scottish history. I kept up with the reading, which turned into a passion, and now I’m finally here! I was that kid in high school who was giving history lessons to his buddies at the lunch table, continuing past the point of food being tossed in my specific direction to get me to pipe down. I was even that kid who debated with teachers in the middle of a long history lesson.
Scotland has so much to offer: rich and complex history, extraordinary hiking trails through glens, lochs, and mountains, scores of intimidating castles, and the best whiskey in the world. I am exploring this country with every opportunity I have.
